Thought Field Therapy Thought Field Therapy (TFT) is the study of the structure of thought fields and the body’s energy system as they pertain to the diagnosis and treatment of psychological distress. It is a natural drug-free system, developed by Dr. Roger Callahan over the last 25 years, to alleviate distressing emotions. The results are rapid and effective. It has been used successfully with clients from infants to elders and is non-invasive and simple to use. It provides excellent self-help tools for the every day stresses of life. TFT is a treatment for psychological disturbances which provides a code, when applied to a psychological problem the individual is attuned to (or thinking about). It eliminates perturbations in the thought field, the fundamental cause of all negative emotions. Perturbation is defined as “a subtle but clearly isolable aspect of a thought field which is responsible for triggering all negative emotions . . . the perturbation is the generating structure which determines the chemical, hormonal, nervous system, cognitive and brain activity commonly associated with and an intrinsic part (but not the fundamental cause) of, the negative emotions.” (Callahan & Callahan, TFT and Trauma). Perturbations contain “active information” that is activated when the thought field is tuned into, by simply asking the person to think about the problem. The emotional problem can then be treated through stimulation of energy meridian points. Perturbations are encoded in thought fields. A field is an invisible, non-material structure in space which has an effect upon matter. When a person is being reated with TFT, specific energy meridian points are stimulated in an exact, predetermined sequence. Through the stimulation of the correct treatment points in the correct sequence, the perturbation is collapsed and as a result, all traces of psychological distress are eliminated at their root cause. Studies at Florida State University (Figley, C. and Carbonell, J., 1995) and numerous studies over the last 13 years, demonstrate TFT’s effectiveness in the treatment of traumas and anxiety. Dr. Charles Figley refers to its performance in those studies. “All four approaches we investigated generated impressive results. But TFT stood out from all other approaches in which I am aware because of five reasons:
